From UNLEASHED to CAGE

A little over a year ago, UNLEASHED was one night in one club. This Friday, a night born out of it opens its own doors. Here's how we got from there to here.

Where it started

We put on the first UNLEASHED in early 2025, driven by a simple frustration. Berlin had world-class techno, and Berlin had sex-positive spaces — but the overlap we actually wanted, uncompromising techno inside a genuinely safer, kink-friendly room, was harder to find than it had any right to be. So we built it ourselves at INSOMNIA in Tempelhof. Play areas open, phones at the cloakroom, awareness in every corner. Where techno meets freedom, no compromise.

We didn't expect it to move this fast.

How it grew

Inside roughly six months of our very first night, UNLEASHED was voted Best Kinky Party 2025 at the Kinky Guide Awards — standing next to parties that had been running for over a decade. That award was never really ours. It was yours: the crowd that made the room, the DJs who set it alight, the INSOMNIA team that held it together while a barely-teenage party punched miles above its age.

After that it stopped being a one-off and became a rhythm. A regular fixture on the INSOMNIA calendar, month after month, every edition sharpening what the night is and who it's for.

How it became something bigger

Here's the part that caught us off guard. The idea turned out to be bigger than the single night. What began as UNLEASHED grew into UNDR — a collective with space for more than one sound and more than one crowd. HEAT joined with its house-and-techno concept and its thermal-camera Heat Zone. And now CAGE.

Which leads to something we're genuinely happy to admit: UNLEASHED isn't the main thing anymore. It's one branch of a family. The night that started everything is now one of several. UNLEASHED itself rolls on, of course; the next one is our CSD afterparty on 25 July.

How CAGE came to be

CAGE didn't come out of a planning session. It came out of you. UNLEASHED guests kept telling us the same two things, night after night: they wanted it harder, and they were tired of going out getting more expensive every month. We heard both.

CAGE is the answer to that request — harder music, and a door that opened at 10€ instead of drifting past 30€ like so much of the city. It's rawer than UNLEASHED, cheaper than nearly everything around it, and it exists because our own crowd asked for it out loud.
